There are a lot of transportations in Thailand like taxi, Tuk-tuk and pick up bus(called Sungtaewu). The fee of taxi in Phuket was very expensive compared with Bangkok despite they were cities in same country.
YJ don't want to pay much in transportation so she loved pick up bus. It's cost was cheer more than ten times compared with Taxi or Tuk-tuk.

But pick up bus moved slow to pick up passangers on anywhere it's course. And also it's uncomfortable because rattled back and forth so much.
So we decided to use car rental service when we go another beachs. You can rent a car easily if you have passport and international driver's license.

I rent a car through local travel agency locate on patong beach side road. I took over on hotel front where I stayed and they took over the car same place.

There are a lot of stuffs for the mouth in Phuket. You can taste various kind of seafood like crabs, fishes and shrimps and local thailand foods.

When you walk along the Patong beach side road after sunset, diverse kind of food will seduce you. Street vendors bring their remodeled bike that can make some snacks. The stuff in picture is banana crepe what we bought at beach road. Taste was not so great but travelers looked love that.

Seafoods are famous because Phuket is closed with sea. So you can taste various kind of seafoods in restaurant near beach side roads. Most of all, Pu Pat Pong Kari (Curried Crab Claws) was just suit my palate.

And shrimp named Tiger shrimp is famous food material in Phuket. It was biggest shrimp I've ever seen before. I ordered chilli-sauced shrimp but not so much good for me even though it was expensive.

Phuket Thaildand in 2010 - Post 02

Millennium Patong resort is connected with Juncylon whice is huge size shopping mall in Patong. Literally, Juncylon is largest size shopping mall with Central festival in Phuket. But if they compared with Hong-kong or New-york's one, it would be just a small scale mall.

After we checked in Millennium Patong resort, we went out to see Patong beach and Bangla road. There are so many Pubs and Clubs are lined up along the Bangla road which is popular with night life.

During Phuket trip, YJ was move with BABY!. So we made decision that the main theme of this travel is  recuperation. We entered the Italian restaurant for late lunch and order pasta and watermelon juice called Taengmoban. The pasta YJ ordered was horrible.

After late lunch in restaurant, we went out toward Patong beach. Although it's monsoon season, sunlight was extremly hot.



 

Before we came back to resort, we stopped by Juncylon. In Juncylon, the Robinson department store and Carrefour is located. So we can buy gloceries comfortably. Especially,  so many kind of tropical fruits like Mangostin, Durian, Mango, Dragon fruits attracted us and we can buy food easily on food courts.

Phuket Thaildand in 2010 - Post 01

We scheduled to arrived Phuket international airport at 1:00 am so I reserved taxi before we arrived. When we came out from gate with our lugage, driver wait us and we moved to Marison Inn guest house.

I think it would be great choice for backpackers if don't mind there's no-pool and no convenient facilities in hotel.

There so many "Seven-eleven" all over the Patong. I bought coffee flavored milk and apple juice for YJ.

There're instant noodle(don't know it's Ramen or not) and hamburgers.

Phuket is monsoon season in September so weather was unpredictable. But it will be no problem for travel because it rains for a little while.

Phuket Thaildand in 2010 - Preparing trip

Travel to Phuket was decided totally impulsively. My uncle Chi-won has a  house in Phuket not sure where it located exactly and he invited us to the Phuket in Korean national holiday Chu-Seok. So I started to find air ticket and  shlould have to buy it with high price(as same as ticket to Europe!!).
Travel to Phuket was the most non-prepared one I've ever been. So I have to get some information about Phuket in my office(even in my working hour). I found not only resort we should stay but also some popular restaurants and places to sight-seeing.


When I back from the work, YJ had bought travel guidebook named "inside Phuket and Phiphi island" and it was great helpful for us.

Cover of book looks so simple but it contains useful map all around the Phuket(include close province around Phuket) and later it helped me finding road for driving. So If you planned to trip to Phuket, I surely recommend this book for you.

Most hard to decide was where should we stay in Patong. It's not difficult thing choose region where we stay in Phuket. I surfed some websites and individual blogs and Patong is the best place where we got a hotel. Becasue Patong-beach is the most famous for traveler of all around the world and we can enjoy convenient facilities until late night if we stay Patong area. But there are too many resorts and hotels in Patong.
Eventually, I decided stay in Millennium Patong resort which has great reviews in Trip-Advisor.com. Millennium hotel chain is from Singapore and  I have good rememberance when I stayed in New-York's millennium hotel broadway. I'm certain Millennium Patong's location and  service are second to none.
